Title: Lady Daenerys
Breed: Buff Orpington
Hatch Date: June 29, 2015
Peep: Lady Daenerys is the second largest chick, yet she has the tiniest peep and still sounds the same as she did at 3 days old. If she was a man she’d be nicknamed Tiny and have a hilariously small and high voice with a giant body.
Namesake: Lady Daenerys is named after Daenerys Targaryen from the Game of Thrones series. She is one of the main characters, and a major contender for the Iron Throne, intending to become Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. Her character is one of the most awesome of course, being both beautiful and ballsey, and having a kind heart but a strong character and good qualities of a leader. Also, notably, she becomes the ‘Mother of Dragons’ when she hatches 3 petrified dragon eggs in a fire, and comes out unscathed with 3 baby dragons, which makes her awesomeness exponentially increase. Also, chickens come from eggs, and kind of look like dragons, if dragons were fluffy with short tails and chicken feet.
My Lady Daenerys was, from day 1, the most leader-like. She was the first to explore every new situation, even when her other sisters held back. She came to me the first, she allowed herself to be held first, and she was, by far, the largest and most developed chick in her early days. She peeped the loudest, and tried new foods as I introduced them, and never had any fear of the new world she was born into. Her personality is gentle though, and I have rarely seen her initiate a challenge with her sisters, only quietly respond and hold her ground when others have challenged her.
Lady Daenerys also had the palest most golden baby fuzz, and reminded me of the platinum blonde hair of her namesake.
Hobbies: Charging full speed ahead into adventures. Making tiny peeps whilst nuzzling her humans.
Pecking Order: Lady Daenerys was the first chick to show a leadership role, but she is not, at this moment, the top hen, although she is somewhere near the top as far as I can tell.
Bio: From the first time I opened their shipping box, Lady Daenerys was large and in charge, being both one of the biggest and bravest chicks. She wasn’t intimidated by anything, and was the first to investigate anything new. We first were able to tell her apart by this gutsy personality and her well-developed wing feathers. Over the next few weeks she has filled out quickly, and was the first to feather fully, experiment with flying, and I believe the first to perch. She only has one sister who rivals her in size now, and that is one of my Welsummers.
Lady Daenerys is super sweet, and enjoys being handled. In the first two weeks, Amalthea and Buttercup were by far the ones that wanted to be handled the most, but Daenerys has been increasingly more social, and now she begs to be handled with the other girls as well. As shes grown, her face has retained a graceful almost swan-like quality, and her feet and face are very white.
